 Company Profile

Since 1965, when John Collins started carrying fruit and vegetable produce between the Adelaide and Melbourne markets with a Dodge Traybody, he has been committed to the philosophy of treating his customers' business like his own. Providing a consistent high level service with the most suitable equipment for the job, has enabled Collins Adelaide to become a cost competitive carrier to Melbourne and Sydney.

Office
One of the fleet, on the road.

Now two of John's sons, Neil and Craig are part of Collins Adelaide's supportive staff along with drivers, mechanics, loaders and office personnel - a great team in a friendly working environment.

The Company operates a large fleet of refrigerated vans  and tautliners on linehaul work, including B-Double configurations, providing:
  • Interstate overnight transportation
  • Short or long-term storage of frozen, chilled, perishable and general goods
  • Local distribution
The current premises at Naweena Road , Regency Park were opened in 1991.  Set on four acres, there are ample facilities for dry and refrigerated storage, workshop maintenance, vehicle washing and administration.

The experience gained in handling fresh fruit and vegetables, working closely with our customers, and having a professional approach to what we do, our business continues to grow.  Our objective "To provide an efficient and reliable transport service for our clients through the use of careful, safe work practises in all company activities" ensures we will not loose the traditions set many years ago, whilst continually improving the services offered.

Office
The apostles on the great ocean road.

In order to achieve and maintain our objective, Collins Adelaide established and achieved certification to the Australian / New Zealand International Quality Systems Standard  AS/NZS ISO 9002.1994, the Transport Industry's TruckSafe Standard, recognition of the OHS&W program and are in the process of obtaining accreditation for the HACCP Food Safety program.

As members of a number of professional organisations, The Australian United Fresh Transport Advisory Committee, South Australian Chamber of Employers, Australian Trucking Association and SARTA to name a few, we keep abreast of the most recent developments for the industries we serve.

The Road Transport Industry plays an important role in the movement of fresh fruit and vegetables between grower and consumer, through direct pickup and delivery systems working along the shortest routes and having an efficient operating system we ensure a competitive edge difficult to achieve by our competitors.

The Company's fleet of refrigerated vans have been approved by Primary Industries & Resources SA, Meat Hygiene Unit, for the transportation of packaged meat and meat products.

So, to deal with a transport company that keeps business personal and professional, by developing working relationships that are more than just doing business, let Collins Adelaide welcome you to the family.
